Medicines Shortages
Patients
throughout the country will have noticed that there are increasing
numbers of prescriptions which pharmacies cannot fulfill completely
or promptly.
This is due to a nationwide shortage of certain medicines. You
may have read that some manufacturers are trying to blame pharmacists
for this shortage because they are exporting medicines to countries
which pay more than the NHS price for drugs.
We
can confirm that neither M Whitfield Ltd nor its principal
wholesale supplier, Durham Pharmaceuticals Ltd, exports any
medicines whatsoever.
Any shortages experienced by M Whitfield Ltd are caused entirely
by the inability of drug manufacturers to supply the product,
or
by
manufacturer-imposed
quotas which
prevent us from buying the quantities of medicines that we require.
If
you are as unhappy with this extremely unsatisfactory situation
as we are, we suggest you contact the Independent Complaints
Advocacy Service
(ICAS) who can give you advice and support in making a complaint
